Rob and I went on a road trip for the first two weeks of July. We went as far west as Winnipeg, where we had the privilege of spending some time with Rich & Cher and our nieces and nephews. I like to think of our vacation as having three parts. The first part was the 8 days we spent getting to Winnipeg. The second part was the 4 days we spent with our family in Winnipeg and the third part was the trip home. I'm not sure how many blog posts this will end up being, but this one is just about the first couple of days.
We left on Canada Day, and I think we left around 7:30. We can't quite remember. Our first stop was Algonquin Park. Neither Rob or I had ever been to the park so we decided to spend one night there, mostly so we can say were were there. :) We had a reservation for a campsite and it is a good thing we did because the park was full.
Rob's parents very generously allowed us to borrow their trailer and it was just perfect for this trip. It allowed us to setup and take down camp quickly and was a cozy little home for about a week. Thank you so much, Dad & Mom!
We stayed in the Canisbay Lake campground at Algonquin, so this is a picture of Canisbay Lake.
On Saturday, July 2, we left Algonquin and drove a couple hours to Restoule Provincial Park. This park was also full, so we were glad we had a reservation here too. We stayed there until Monday morning. On Sunday, we worshipped with the FRC preaching station in Powassan. They have a potluck lunch every Sunday so we joined them for that and enjoyed fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ who were worshipping there that day as well.
That was the first couple days of our trip. We both felt that the real travels started on Monday morning, but that will be the next blog post!
