A week ago Friday, Josh came to install our new pantry and we are really happy with it. It matches the existing cabinets very well, and adds a nice finishing touch to the kitchen. Plus, it affords me quite a bit more cupboard space, which was why we wanted a pantry in the first place!
This pantry is not as deep as the one in our old house - there wasn't space for a deeper pantry here, so I couldn't fit everything in that I had hoped, but I'm still a lot happier with how things are organized in the kitchen now. Now I (and Rob) just have to remember where everything is all over again!
I had also been waiting for the pantry to come to re-organize the linen closet. This is a marvelously large closet. Its original intent was for the a stacked washer/dry set to be kept in here, with some shelving on the side. However, the previous owners opted to make a laundry room downstairs, so this is just now a very large closet. It is just awesome having such a big closet, and I prefer my laundry area downstairs where there is some room to sort the clothes, keep a drying rack, etc.
I had been keeping some foodstuffs in the linen closet, and everything in it was just put somewhere without any thought. It wasn't a terrible mess but at the same time it had never been put in neatly either. So earlier this week I spent some time re-organizing. Some things move to the kitchen, some things move down stairs, some things from downstairs move to the linen closet, and now it is all done. Not much linen in it though!
And now, because there's nothing as exciting as the contents of one's linen closet, I present.....
In the 'before' picture (left) I had already removed the food, so that's why there's some empty spots.
Next up, cleaning up our storage room downstairs. Rob and I plan to tackle that one together.
