Saying Goodbye isn't Fun

EARLY tomorrow morning, Lisa embarks on her journey west, as she will be starting her graduate studies in September.  Mom & Dad are driving Lisa west, and are now finished packing many of her earthly belongings into their van.  The round trip is expected to be about 9200km, as Dad and Mom hope to do some sight-seeing on the way back.

But this means that we've had to bid adieu to my dear sister - this isn't a small move she's making - and I'm going to miss her!  Goodbye, my dear sister - we wish you God's protection, strength and wisdom as you enter this new phase of your life.  How comforting it is to know that you'll be no further from our heavenly Father's throne of grace in British Columbia than us in Ontario.  We'll be eager to see you again at Christmas, and are so glad you're planning to come home to visit then!
Last night, Dad & Mom hosted a "Godspeed Lisa" party - isn't this a pretty cake?

Pretty though it is, yet still a small consolation when saying goodbye to your sister.  Thankfully we have phones, email, MSN, webcams and the like!   And it is also so different from when our grandparents immigrated to Canada 50 or 60 years ago - they left family then expecting to never see them again.  In many cases, they did, since plane travel became very accessible to the average person, but at the time, that wasn't expected.  Thankfully, we do expect to see Lisa again!

Safe travels Dad, Mom & Lisa!
