Backyard Garden

BEFORE:
(This picture is actually from May 6, so there were more weeds before there were less.)

AFTER:

'nuff said.

Except there is more to say :) Saturday was a VERY busy day for Rob and I. We started the day by enjoying our first No Alarm Clock Day since October '08. While Rob is playing hockey, an alarm clock goes off in our home 7 days a week. Although hockey has been over for nearly a month, we couldn't enjoy our first No Alarm Clock Day until this past Saturday. And even then, we didn't really have time for it, although we didn't sleep in too late!

On the agenda was to finish weeding the back yard, lay down the landscapers cloth, pick up a trailer load of mulch, and haul the mulch from the trailer to the backyard. In between all that we had to pickup the trailer itself, meet with a landscaper for a quote on curbs/sidewalks in the front yard, and various other Saturday tasks! And we had to be done all that in time to be cleaned up and ready to leave for an RJK Sisters concert that evening!

I think it was after 3:00, or close to 3:00 anyways, before we had the weeding complete, and all the landscaper's cloth laid down.

Then we were ready to start wheel-barrowing the mulch from the trailer in the garage to the back yard. We had picked up one cubic yard of mulch...which is quite a pile!

Rob was literally running with the wheelbarrow loads...he would empty it somewhere, and run back to the garage to fill it again while I worked on spreading out the pile he had just made. We chose black mulch, and some of the spreading I did with my hands...which made me very dirty!

However, by shortly after 5:00, the trailer was empty, and we hurriedly cleaned up, did the other remaing tasks, and cleaned ourselves up. We made it to the concert on time too!
We are so pleased with how it turned out too! I love the contrasting colours!
