Mark & Rachael's wedding is in 5 1/2 weeks, so in the past two weeks I've gone to a shower and Rob hosted a bachelor party for Mark.
The shower was organized by Rachael's sister, Amanda, as a surprise shower, and Rachael was indeed surprised! So that was fun. It was a "friends and cousins" shower, and although Rachael and I have known each other all our lives, rode on the bus together, could almost be considered neighbours, we are a few years apart in age, and have never really hung out. Thus I have have Mark & Rob's lifelong friendship to thank, as the catalyst for spending more time with and getting to know this sweet sister in Christ.
As a guest at the shower who is not related to Rachael, it was neat to see Rachael and her sisters and cousins interact - you can tell they are close family, and have a lot of fun together.
Here's Rachael and her sister Theresa.
This past Saturday Rob and Jon hosted a Bachelor Party for Mark. The original plan had been to play some pond hockey, but as Saturday was warm and a bit wet, those plans fell through. However, the group still came for supper.
Once supper was over, I left and went to Rachael's, as I felt a bit like a stranger in my own house with all these guys over! And there were no men at Rachael's, since her dad and brothers were all at our house!
As far as I know, the guys enjoyed themselves, and now we're looking forward to the wedding day itself on March 21!
