Valentine's Dinner

Last Friday our YP group hosted a slightly belated Valentine's dinner, and as in previous years, we had a wonderful time!
The youth group does such a good job with these dinners. Excellent food, the church is so nicely decorated, and entertaining games. They usually host a dinner each year, as a fundraiser for various organizations.
This year, one of the games was for each table to write a poem, based on an assigned theme. Each table had to present their poem to everyone else, and would be judged. Bonus points were awarded if the poem was set to music. The theme for our table was "Falling in Love", and Anthony penned this masterpiece.

When I first laid my eyes on you,
My heartbeat quickened and I knew
That without you I could not stay,
All other loves will pass away.

You have become my dearest friend,
Indeed, I'll need you to the end
You are so fine, you are so sweet
Each day you are my favourite treat

I taste your essence on my lips
I feel you settle on my hips
But I don't care because I know
That CHOCOLATE is the way to go!

This was presented to the audience by Anthony giving an emotional and heartfelt reading of his poem, and Rob providing background music on the piano. And our table won! The prize was chocolate, so that suited us all just fine. The other tables had some creative and entertaining presentations as well - it was fun!

After all the poetry/song presentations, the YP put on a brief fashion show for us. Folks, you'll be thrilled with the new items on the runway this year! Men's boxers are really coming out - just put a box around your waist. And a modern men's dinner jacket is so easy to come by - just attach some plates, cups and many pieces of cutlery to current out-of-date jacket and you're now leading the pack, style-wise. Each outfit was presented with a witty introduction, but unfortunately, I don't remember any of them.

A big THANK YOU to our youth group for a great evening!
