I went to renew my Health Card the other day, as I had been duly informed by the Ministry of Health that my current card will soon expire. The paperwork they sent me advised I phone to make an appointment, so I did. And am I glad I did so!
My appointment was scheduled for 5:15 and I arrived shortly after 5:00. I checked in at the reception counter, and said I had an appointment for 5:15. I was given a number, and told I would be up next. I went to sit down but couldn't...all the chairs in the waiting area were occupied. There must have been 20 or 30 people waiting. It didn't matter that there weren't any empty chairs, I only had to wait for 2 or 3 minutes, and then my number was called. The process to actually renew my card took only a few minutes as well, and by 5:15 - my scheduled appointment time - I was well on my way home.
So the moral of the story is - if you have an opportunity to make an appointment for your health card renewal - do it! Had I not made an appointment I might still be sitting there... :)
