Gratitude Friday

Sunday is Mother’s Day. One of the hardest days in the year for me. And not just the actual day, but the 2 or 3 week period leading up to Mother’s Day as well. It is a frequent topic of conversation, half the radio ads are about getting gifts for Mother’s Day, and the flyers are plastered with Mother’s Day verbiage. The reminders are unending, another Mother’s Day has come, and in God’s sovereignty, I’m not a mom. In God’s providence, I may never be. So, Mother’s Day and the weeks leading up to it are long and painful. Yet, there is still reason for gratitude. I have a mom. I have a mom-in-law. For some, Mother’s Day can be doubly hard, if their mom is no longer living, or there’s a broken relationship.

Not only do I have a mom, I have been blessed with a wonderful mom. I’m so thankful for my Mom, for the gift that she is to me, to my family. If I consider that it is better to “give than receive” :), my focus for Mother’s Day can be on my mom, rather than my own missing mom-ness. So, thank you, my dear Mom, and Happy Mother's Day!

I’ve also been blessed with a wonderful mom-in-law. I’ve heard the term “mother-in-love” for refering to one’s mother-in-law, and it certainly applies to me. I’ve married into a great family, and Rob’s mom is no exception! Thank you too, my dear Mom (in-law), and Happy Mother's Day!

"I will lift up mine eyes to the hills, from whence does my help come? My help comes form the Lord Who made the heavens and the earth" I know you're looking to Him, dear sister. I so appreciate your loving heart and your desire to glorify Him where He puts you. You are ever in our prayers.
