Gratitude Friday
This week I'm thankful that my dentist office is very near work and that my dentist recently hired an associate. Wednesday morning, I was at work, eating a snack and suddenly something felt funny in my mouth, and then a tooth felt rough to my tongue. I went and looked in the mirror and it looked like half my tooth (a backmost molar) was gone. I decided that was impossible and clearly I didn't know what my teeth looked like! A couple hours later I decided something really had happened in my mouth, so I called for an appointment. Thankfully, I was able to get an appointment for Thursday afternoon, because although I was not having any pain, we're going away for a week and I didn't want to suddenly have pain at 3 AM one morning, 4 hours away from my dentist! So, yesterday afternoon I spent more than an hour in the dentist chair, while the newly graduated dentist "made" me a new tooth. At least, that's what it looks and feels like! He 'honoured' me with the dubious award of his most challenging/complicated filling of the day. Last night things were more sore than Wednesday, but that is to be expected when the freezing comes out and your teeth and gums recover from someone pushing and shoving them around for an hour. Today, I'm thankful to report the pain is gone. So, I'm glad I could get an appointment so easily and before our vacation!
Which leads to my second thankfulness item - a week at Rock Lake Lodge! Looking forward to good times with the A. family, although it was very disappointing to learn yesterday that Steve & Jo & family can't join us as their van broke down. Hopefully pictures of our trip to come in a couple weeks!
I'm also glad I could talk to my parents on the phone today. This may sound strange, but I don't think I'm tied to the apron strings in any way. Mom and Dad left a little over 2 weeks ago. They will be home Saturday, but since we are leaving tomorrow, we don't expect to see each other again until Sunday the 20th. That means it will be two days short of 4 weeks between seeing each other face to face. I know I'm, well, I'm as old as I am, but this is the first time in my life that I've gone that long without visiting my parents! I'm thankful that they had the opportunity to move Lisa west, and are now enjoying some of God's beautiful creation as they meander home again. But I do miss them!
