Thanksgiving Week

Spring is still my favourite time of year, but oh, isn't autumn beautiful? We've been blessed with such nice weather, and the fall colours are so vibrant! I just wish there was some way I could bottle up all the colours for November and December, when it is often so dark and dreary.

On Thanksgiving Day, Rob and I went to Dad & Mom A's for a scrumptious thanksgiving dinner - rolade and turkey! Thank you so much, Mom, it was excellent. Steve & Jo and kids were there as well. After they left, we went for a walk. Since Allison, Kate & Mary-Beth were staying over for a few days they went along on our walk too. It was a lovely sunny day - almost hot! We were plenty thirsty when we got back to the house.

Some of the lovely colours we enjoyed...

A milkweed, the girls were quite fascinated by these plants.

The girls, running on ahead. They seemed to be either ahead or behind. For quite awhile, Kate and I lagged behind the others, as Kate was very busy collecting leaves and other pretty things.

I'm not sure what caught their attention here, there was a small creek running through.

My "thanksgiving week" continued on Friday, when my dear friend Alida came over for the afternoon, and we went for quite a long walk. It was a lot cooler than on Monday, but still brilliant sunshine.

Saturday saw the finish to our "thanksgiving week" as we went to Dad & Mom D for another thanksgiving dinner. My parents had been away over the long weekend, but it worked out well to have this dinner on Saturday, as Karin's Mom and two of her sisters were visiting from the Netherlands.

A spiral ham this time, so we had plenty of variety in our thanksgiving dinners! Thank you Mom, it was delicious!

One more of Alex...

In his sermon on Thanksgiving Monday, Pastor V read the following quote from J.C. Ryle.

Few indeed are to be found who are not continually hiding their mercies under a bushel, and setting their wants and trials on a hill.

May we be part of the few, and "in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" (1 Thess 5:18) for "Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised...His greatness is unsearchable." (Psalm 145:3)
